Legal / Content Usage Policy

Saints Home ("we," "us," "our") operates thesaints.store (the "Site"). This page sets out who owns the content published on the Site and what is and isn't permitted when it comes to using, copying, or processing that content.

Ownership

All original content on the Site — including but not limited to article text, translations, hero images, illustrations, layout, and the compiled saint/calendar/prayer data as presented here — is the property of Saints Home, except where a specific source or license is credited on the page itself (for example, a Wikimedia Commons image with its own attribution, or a public-domain reference text). Where no other source is credited, the content is ours.

What you may not do

Without our prior written permission, you may not:

This applies regardless of whether the copying is done by a person or by an automated tool, bot, or AI agent acting on someone's behalf.

AI crawlers and training-data bots

We actively block AI-training-only crawlers from accessing the Site via our robots.txt file, including (but not limited to) CCBot (Common Crawl), Bytespider (ByteDance), and PetalBot (Huawei). This technical block exists specifically because these crawlers feed bulk datasets used to train AI models, and we do not consent to our content being used for that purpose. The prohibition in this policy applies independently of — and in addition to — that technical block: even where a crawler is not (yet) named above or blocked in robots.txt, using our content to train an AI model is not permitted without our written consent.

What is permitted — citation and AI answer engines

This policy is not intended to stop people or AI assistants from reading, citing, linking to, or quoting a reasonable excerpt of our content with clear attribution and a link back to the original page — the same way a search engine result, a news article, or a student's footnote would. We specifically welcome being cited or referenced by AI answer engines and assistants (for example Perplexity, ChatGPT's search/browsing features, or Google's AI Overviews) when a user asks a question and the response points back to the Site as its source. The distinction we draw is between citation (reading our page at request-time to answer a specific question, with attribution) and training or bulk reproduction (ingesting our content wholesale to build a model or republish it elsewhere) — the former is welcome, the latter requires our permission.

Permitted personal use

You're welcome to read the Site, share a link to a page on social media, print a page for your own personal, non-commercial use, or quote a short excerpt with a link back to us and clear credit (for example, in a blog post or forum discussion).

Trademarks and branding

"Saints Home" and the Site's logo are our branding and may not be used to imply endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship without our permission.

Enforcement

If we become aware of unauthorized use of our content — including AI training on it — we reserve the right to pursue removal of that content, a formal takedown request to the hosting platform involved, or other legal remedies available to us.

Contact / permission requests

If you'd like to license, republish, or otherwise use Site content beyond what's described above as permitted, contact us at [email protected] — we're generally happy to discuss reasonable requests.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date above.
