A Pilgrim's Prayer
Christian pilgrimage has always treated the journey as part of the prayer, not just an obstacle before it — think of the Camino de Santiago or a walk to a shrine. This prayer is meant to be said at the very start of a pilgrimage, whatever its distance, asking that the walking itself become a form of prayer.
Lord God, you called Abraham to leave his home and walk toward a land he had not yet seen. I set out now on my own pilgrim way. Make the road itself my prayer: let every tired step strip away what is unnecessary in me, let every companion I meet be a grace, and let every shrine and church along the way draw me closer to you. Bring me to my journey's end changed, and bring me home again in peace. Amen.
