Prayer to Saint Camillus for the Sick
Saint Camillus de Lellis, a 16th-century former soldier, founded an order dedicated to caring for the sick after his own long illness gave him firsthand experience of suffering. The Church honors him as patron of the sick, of nurses, and of hospitals.
Saint Camillus, you gave your life to caring for the sick after knowing illness and hardship yourself. Watch over me, or over the one I love who is suffering now. Ask God for healing, if it is His will, and for comfort and patience if healing must wait. Bless the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who tend the sick in your spirit of charity, and give them strength for their demanding work. Amen.
