Saint George was a Roman soldier martyred for his faith, and legend remembers him as the knight who slew a dragon to save a threatened town. Ever since, he's been invoked as a patron against danger and evil in all its forms — the courage to face down what frightens you.
Saint George, brave soldier of Christ, you faced down evil without flinching and did not lose your faith. Stand with me now against the dangers that threaten me, seen and unseen. Give me your courage where I feel fear, your clear head where I feel confused, and your trust in God where I feel alone. Protect me from harm, and if harm cannot be avoided, grant me the strength to meet it as you did. Amen.
