Prayer to Saint Luke for Physicians
Saint Luke was a physician before he became an evangelist, and the Church has honored him ever since as the patron of doctors, surgeons, and all who care for the sick. This prayer is fitting for a patient asking for a good doctor, or for a healthcare worker seeking steady hands and a patient heart.
Saint Luke, beloved physician and evangelist, you healed bodies before you wrote of the One who heals souls. Watch over all who practice the art of medicine today. Give doctors, nurses, and every healer clear minds and steady hands, patience with the frightened, and compassion for the suffering. Guide them to the right diagnosis and the right care. And for those of us who wait on a doctor's skill, obtain for us the grace to be healed, in body and in spirit. Amen.
