Saint Benedict Medal Prayer
The Saint Benedict medal carries a Latin inscription abbreviating a centuries-old formula against temptation and evil, traced to the monks of Monte Cassino. This prayer draws on that same tradition, asking Saint Benedict's intercession for those who wear or carry the medal.
May the sign of the holy cross which our father Saint Benedict wore be my strong protection. May I not be seduced by vain things. Begone, Satan, and suggest not to me thy vanities; what is offered me is evil; drink thou thy own poison. Through the intercession of Saint Benedict, may the Lord be my true peace and my sure defense. Amen.
