Opening Prayer for the Evening Examen

Saint Ignatius of Loyola recommended a daily review of conscience he called the Examen, and this brief prayer traditionally opens it — asking for the grace to see the day clearly before looking back over it. It's just the opening line, not the full method — see our article on the Examen for that.
Lord, give me light to know myself as you see me, and courage to look honestly at this day. Show me where I met your grace, and where I turned from it. Give me gratitude for the good, and true sorrow for the rest, and send me to sleep in your peace. Amen.
