Prayer to My Guardian Angel for the Night
Devotion to the guardian angels goes back to the early Church, and night has always felt like the hour that most needs their watch — sleep leaves us defenseless in a way waking hours don't. This is meant to be the very last thing said before closing your eyes.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, the day is ending, and I entrust the night to you. Watch over me while I sleep, guard this room, this house, this rest, and keep far from me every fear and every harm. If I wake in the dark hours, remind me you are near. Angel of God, watch, and let me sleep in peace. Amen.
