A Prayer Against Anxiety and Worry
Saint Paul told the Philippians, from prison, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6-7). This prayer is inspired by that passage rather than a direct quotation of it, turning its counsel into a petition.
Lord, I bring you what is weighing on me right now, all of it, without holding back. I don't ask you to explain it, only to carry it with me. Where I am anxious, replace my fear with trust. Where I am tempted to control everything, teach me to let go. Give me the peace that goes beyond what I can reason my way to — the peace that guards my heart and my mind. Amen.
