A Comfort Prayer from the Beatitudes
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus names mourning itself a blessing, promising those who grieve that comfort will come (Matthew 5:4). This prayer draws on that promise — it is not a direct Scripture quotation but a petition built around it, for anyone who needs to hear those words again today.
Lord Jesus, You said that those who mourn are blessed, and that they will be comforted. I bring You my grief and ask You to keep that promise in me. Where I am tired of crying, give me rest. Where I feel forgotten, remind me I am not alone. Help me believe that this sorrow is not the end of the story, and that comfort, though it is slow, is already on its way. Amen.
